Ms. Lam's little Educator Journal

In 2012, Hokulani Elementary was awarded National Blue Ribbon School. On same year I took my first full-time teaching position in this 2nd grade classroom. Hokulani was one of the most challenging schools I ever taught because my class had the largest achievement gap ranging from K to 2nd grade reading level. I am so proud of all my students who excelled and improved their reading fluency by 10-50%. More importantly, they became self-directed learners and resourceful problem solvers. Thank you colleagues, parents and administrators who supported me and witnessed my validated my effort.
